A Deep Dive Into Yin
Date: Sunday, January 23 and Sunday, January 30, 2022
Join Pamela Wilson (formerly Ronstadt) for a deep dive into Yin Yoga, a slow, deliberate practice that explores the edges where resistance arises. The resistance may be physical, but we also will notice and honor other edges, such as the emotional and psychological. On a physical level, yin yoga targets and affects connective tissues, which include fascia, ligaments, joints, cartilage, and bones. All tissues need exercise to maintain optimal health, and these deeper tissues are no exception. Yin yoga stresses let us exercise them safely.
In single-day sessions on consecutive weekends, you will learn…
-information about the philosophy and practice of yin yoga
-the difference between yin and yang styles of yoga
-the concepts of tension and compression and how tension can arise from a variety of causes
-an awareness of the wide range of anatomical human variation
-fundamentals of energy, including the meridians
-detailed instructions for practicing / guiding others in common yin yoga asanas
Pam will lead participants in a yin yoga practice each day of the workshop. An E-RYT® 500, Pam is a passionate yogi who has taught over 10,000 hours both internationally and domestically. She brings a deep respect for the practice and a gentle, compassionate heart to all of her endeavors.
This workshop is intended for ALL practitioners who want to learn about / expand their yin yoga practice; you do NOT have to be a yoga teacher. Yoga teachers who attend are eligible for 18 Continuing Education Units through Yoga Alliance.
Also available through two-way livestreaming.

We will use knowledge shared in the workshop to improve the ability to balance and maintain postural control in static positions. We will discuss and then test our balance using this information.
All ages and abilities can benefit from improved balance so please join us for an afternoon of knowledge, movement, and laughter.
Bring your mat and wear breathable clothing you can move in.

Breathe, Relax, and Meditate with Bill Ryan
Date: Sunday, November 13, 2022
This is a practicum workshop in which you will learn simple but effective techniques for cultivating optimal diaphragmatic breathing and systematic relaxation. You will also be guided through a basic sequence of practices for establishing a comfortable meditation practice.
In addition to learning the “how” of these practices, you’ll also gain information about why these practices are helpful in managing stress and moving towards more freedom and fulfillment in life. I follow the principal for all yoga practices described in Yoga Sutras 2:46 and 2:47: practice in a comfortable and stable posture with “effortless effort.” Be prepared for an informative and deeply relaxing experience.
Bill’s spiritual journey began in 1975 when he was initiated into Transcendental Meditation ™, and he has practiced meditation ever since. In 1975 he attended TM teacher training in Switzerland for six months. After a nearly 30-year career teaching in higher education, Bill “retired” in 2015 and moved to the Himalayan Institute (HI), a yoga and meditation retreat center in Honesdale, PA, where he lived, studied, worked, and taught for seven years. He completed his 200-hour YTT in 2015 and 300-hr YTT in 2016. He also completed training as an Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist. In 2021, Bill completed training and became a Certified Vishoka Mediation Teacher (CVMT).
At the HI, Bill worked as a certified biofeedback therapist for the PureRejuv Wellness Center assessing breathing and autonomic nervous system function in hundreds of clients. He has taught anatomy and physiology in the 200 and 300-hour YTT’s at the HI for the past several years. He also taught a “Building Resilience” seminar several times a year as well as yoga classes and workshops in breathing, relaxation, and meditation. Bill is well versed in anatomy and physiology (Ph.D. in exercise physiology and registered nurse), Polyvagal Theory and stress, pranayama, systematic relaxation, meditation, and yoga philosophy contained in the Yoga Sutra and Bhagavad Gita.
Now located in Tucson, Bill is looking forward to integrating into the yoga community in Tucson and teaching as the opportunity arises.
